As an MCS Certified Installer, Domestic Heating Team manages the installer side of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application and guides the homeowner through the process.
The grant is applied towards the installation cost rather than the homeowner having to pay the full eligible cost and claim the grant back afterwards.

Heat Loss Survey & Design

We complete detailed room-by-room heat loss calculations and assess your existing heating system.

This determines the correct heat pump size and whether any radiator or heating system changes are required.

Your Final Proposal

Once the design is complete, we’ll provide your final installation proposal detailing the system, works required and applicable Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding.

Installation

Our team completes the installation of your heat pump, hot water cylinder, controls and associated heating works included within the proposal.

There was a small problem over the availability of the unit due to the heatwave but they sorted this out and actually supplied and fitted the unit in our bedroom ahead of schedule. The workmen including the electrican were prompt helpful and tidy. I was very impressed with the overall process and would recommend them. On Saturday 23rd May I had NO water and none  of the toilets would flush. It was a Saturday and Monday was the Bank Holiday, Matt was here after an hour of the emergency call.  He did a great job it was the tank in the loft he put in a new "thingy" dont know what they are called and checked everything was working correctly before he left. Had no problems since. How much is the heat pump grant?

The standard Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for an eligible air-to-water heat pump is currently £7,500.

Eligible off-gas-grid properties replacing an oil or LPG heating system can currently receive £9,000.

Do I have to apply for the grant myself?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is installer-led. As an MCS Certified Installer, we’ll manage the installer side of the application and guide you through the homeowner confirmations required.

Do I receive the grant into my bank account?

No. The grant is applied towards the eligible installation cost and is paid to the installer.

Do heat pumps work in older houses?

Yes. Heat pumps can work in many older properties. Correct heat loss calculations and heating system design are more important than simply the age of the property.

Will I need new radiators?

Not necessarily.

We calculate the required heat output for each room and assess whether your existing radiators are suitable. Some may be suitable while others may require upgrading.

Do I need underfloor heating?

No.

Heat pumps can work with correctly sized radiators, underfloor heating or a combination of both.

Will a heat pump provide my hot water?

Yes. An appropriately designed air-to-water heat pump system can provide both heating and domestic hot water.

How do you determine what size heat pump I need?

We carry out detailed heat loss calculations rather than simply choosing a heat pump based on floor area or number of bedrooms.

Can I replace my oil or LPG boiler?

Yes.

Eligible properties without a mains gas connection that are replacing oil or LPG heating can currently qualify for the increased £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
